Pwy ydym ni Ein Tîm Cwrdd â'r Criw Andrew Westwood - Helimed 59 How long have you worked with Wales Air Ambulance? I am the newest member of the team starting in July 2018. I spent 16 years flying for the Royal Navy. Have you always wanted to be a pilot? I have always wanted to be a helicopter pilot (or at least from the age of 3). What does it mean to you to fly for WAA? Flying for the Wales Air Ambulance is an amazing privilege. I get to work with some of the best pre-hospital medical professionals in the world. Due to their skills and the time saved by the aircraft, we get to make a real difference to our patients outcome. As you can imagine, this brings a real sense of job satisfaction. If you weren't a pilot, what would you be? If I was to have to move to a different vocation, I would probably look to work full time for my local church or another charity. When and where did you do your training? Civilian or military? Before I joined Wales Air Ambulance I spent 16 years flying for the Royal Navy. I specialised in maritime troop transport, Search And Rescue and instructed others in these roles during my career.
