Teams from Virgin Media have been raising lifesaving donations for Wales Air Ambulance by helping out in the charity’s shops in Swansea.

Wales Air Ambulance’s shop volunteers have been joined in the charity’s shops by teams from Virgin Media, who are donating their time to help sell pre-loved items to raise funds.

The Welsh helicopter charity relies on people donating their time and funds to keep its four helicopters flying, with each of its missions funded by the kind support WAA receives.

Every year Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £6.5 million in donations to run its operations across Wales, with each of the charity’s lifesaving missions costing around £1,500.

Volunteers help collect donations for the charity through bucket collections and fundraisers, as well as assisting in the charity’s network of shops across Wales.

Virgin Media staff have been donating their time to the Wales Air Ambulance shops in Swansea, sorting donated clothes, bric-a-brac, DVDs and helping to arrange the charity shop stock.

The local team from Virgin Media have been helping out in the shops every day, offering assistance to the Wales Air Ambulance volunteers and helping to raise lifesaving donations.

Rhian Lewis, Wales Air Ambulance Cwmdu Shop and Warehouse Manager, said: “We rely on people kindly donating their time to run our shops, which help to fund Wales Air Ambulance’s missions across Wales.

“By giving an hour or so of your time, you are helping us fly to the aid of people across the country in their hour of need.

“The Virgin Media teams from Swansea have been a great help to us, and their support is helping to save lives.”
